CLP affiliations

Scientists for Labour, as a Socialist Society, can request to affiliate to any Constituency Labour Party (CLP). This gives SfL the right to nominate a parliamentary candidate and to send a delegate to the CLP’s Executive Committee.

The affiliation fee is 6p per SfL member who is a member of the CLP, with a minimum payment of £6. The usual procedure is for a member of the CLP (usually, but not necessarily, a member of SfL) to propose that the CLP EC agrees to allow SfL to affiliate. If this is agreed, the decision is communicated to the SfL Secretary, who then sends the CLP a standard form, and the SfL Treasurer who pays the fee to the CLP.
