Report on Climate Spending Commitments (September 2024)

Exec members Conor Cooper and Noah Wescombe produced the above statement following the Labour Party's decision to reduce its commitments on green spending. The SfL exec are deeply concerned by the significant reductions in spending proposed. We will continue to advocate strongly for climate policies which are science-based and of the scale required to tackle the climate crisis and meet our net zero commitments.

Deepfakes, Elections and National Security (March 2024)

With a comment of endorsement from the BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT, this report calls for policy interventions to protect Britain's elections against the threat of AI-powered deepfakes.

R&D for Economic Security from Future Pandemics (January 2023)

Endorsed by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, the BioIndustry Association, the Confederation of British Industry and SME4Labour, this report argued for greater investment in R&D for pandemic preparedness.

 

This report led to meetings with Darren Jones, Jonathan Reynolds, Hilary Benn, Chi Onwurah, Chris Evans, Holly Lynch, Rosena Allin-Khan and Fabian Hamilton.

COVID-19 Daily Briefings (2020)

These daily briefings supported the shadow front bench with the scientific information needed to hold the government to account during the COVID pandemic.

 

These briefings led to a letter of thanks from Keir Starmer, the Leader of the Opposition.
